I am new to Encaustic painting, which is painting with colored melted beeswax. One of the reasons that I like it is that it is somewhat unpredictable and uncontrollable, like watercolor. The artist has to be willing to go where the medium leads! This is based on a friend’s photo of some Prickly Pear Cactus in their fruit stage.
